After a 3 year absence that saw me start a career as a professional Fire Fighter/EMT and travel to several overseas destinations, I’m finally back to planning a lovely bicycle tour. This time around, I’m planning to tackle several mountain passes through the Sierra Nevada and Rocky Mountains, revisit the spectacular red rock scenery of Southern Utah, and meditate on cruise down Highway 50 through the Northern Nevada desert, aka the “loneliest highway in America”… and I’m also looking for friends to join me. Solo missions are fun, but this time around, I’m thinking fellow cyclists might be nice. I’m considering a June or July ride, from San Francisco to Denver, taking 3-4 weeks. You can find out more information at Adventure Cycling, and let me know if you want to come along… the more the merrier!

In “Desert Solitaire”, Edward Abbey notes:
“A man on foot, on horseback or on a bicycle will see more, feel more, enjoy more in one mile than the motorized tourists can in a hundred miles. Better to idle through one park in two weeks than try to race through a dozen in the same amount of time. Those who are familiar with both modes of travel know from experience that this is true; the rest have only to make the experiment to discover the same truth for themselves.”
